A quick plug for this week's episode of Modem Futura with Punya Mishra, which dives into what agentic AI does and doesn't mean in education, and why this matters.
> I’m leery of writing too much about podcast episodes on this Substack newsletter as, from experience, it’s the fastest way to lose readers’ attention.
Newsletter subscribers are here because we like to *read*.
As a reader with limited time, I am frustrated by the deluge of podcast content out there (which sometimes strikes me as an excuse to not have to write and put together a cogent argument. Case in point—I dictated this comment and then edited it heavily to condense and clarify).
At the very least, you could follow the lead of the New York Times, by posting an edited transcript that can be consumed in minutes, not hours.
I get your point about the deluge of podcasts. I would say though that we are very intentional with the content and format of Modem Futura, and as a conversational podcast that is built around relationships 90% of the content is lost in translation with a transcript – it's a different mode of communication, and of course not for everyone.
The reason I occasionally cross-post here is because the content is likely to be of interest to at least some readers of this Substack -- and hope that I'm not guilty of being too lazy to pot together a cogent argument in my weekly posts 😊
Totally get that it *can* be a different format, and I have not listened to yours to judge it one way or another.
I just wish that I had the hours of free time, the attention span, and full audio processing brain function with which to consume it!
At least it’s unlikely to be AI generated, unlike much of the AI commentary/influencing/hype out there (“The 36-Page Definitive Executive Briefing Guide to Automating your Workflow with AI Agents in August 2025!”). 😂
... of course, despite co-hosting a podcast (and encouraging others to listen), one of my dirty little secrets is that I typically don't listen to them as the bit rate is too low for me compared to reading!
